Gyros is a Mediterranean term. In Mexico and Central and South America these are used to make the meat that is shredded for tacos.

True they are several different dishes that can be made with it. All have a different name depending upon the country you are in.

mmmmmmmmmmmm. So tasty! In Poland they are called Kabobs, for some reason. I thought Kabobs were on sticks, but not there. It's the shaved meat in a pita thing.

Different Kebabs. Doner Kebabs come from this machine and Shish Kebabs are BBQ'd on a stick. Turkish in origin I think.
